The Big Lap - Narrogin & Yilliminning Rock

We chose to visit Narrogin as we badly needed a WIFI fix.  So much for Optus's claim to have 98.5% coverage.  😕

We had just come from this quaint pub at Quindenning in the middle of nowhere.

The Narrogin Caravan Park has free WIFI so that is a bonus if you choose to stay there.  It does drop out a bit though so be prepared.

Narrogin hasn't got much going for it.  Downderry Winery is about it.  Still, we had a wine and cheese platter and enjoyed the views.

YILLIMINNING ROCK

The weather had been dodgy, but our day out to Yilliminning Rock turned out real nice.

The Information Centre had given us a pamphlet that showed a round trip with interesting things to see as well as the Rock.  First stop, George Brockway Tree which is a huge Salmon Gum.  I had seen some amazing trees down south WA with different coloured bark and this was one of them.

The air smelt real good.  Just one of those smells that make you feel exhilarated.

My Tamron 18-270mm lens comes in handy for zooming in.  When you have it at 270 you need to be steady.

I didn't walk up the rock but stayed down around the bottom and took photos of the different moss and a video of some strange little orange coloured insect that was walking like a crab over the rock.
See Video below.

There's quite a few disused rail lines down south in the wheat belt.  That's unfortunate.  In some cases we saw roads built over the rail lines so that they were not showing at all, however the stop for train signs were still left there.

I would have thought that rail usage to haul grain would be the most appropriate method.  It also seems that most farmers feel the same as a search of the net reveals that they are rallying to bring back the freight rail.
