COFFS HARBOUR
~~oOo~~
This is going to be our local beach.
We found our next permanent location. Well actually it's Woolgoolga. Wrap your lips around that one lol. Woolgoolga is about 20 minutes north of Coffs and is a seaside village that hasn't changed much over the years. Known by the locals as Woopi (don't know why yet), Woolgoolga is the home of a huge mosque that has been there ever since we were young, and that's a long time ago. As such there are Indian restaurants dotted around the place so that's a good thing.
Sunset Caravan Park have locked us in as permanents from mid June to Christmas when they require the site for the Christmas break. That's ok with us. We will go bush for those weeks and lock the site in again for the next year if we like it. I showcase our new site in the video below. It's a small caravan park that is only 300 metres from the beach (yes you can hear the surf) and also to the Bowling Club and shops.
Coffs Harbour itself is a very busy city. At the moment, the Pacific Highway goes through Coffs but they are working on that diversion so once done, the city will probably be less busy. There is a bus service from Woolgooga to Coffs which is good for me. We had to get our car serviced here so we were dropped into town and we caught the bus down to the local pier and beach. A day pass on the bus for seniors is only $5 which is awesome and the bus driver confirmed that this day pass can be bought from Woolgoolga too which is even better news!
Down at the jetty and local beach there was a hive of activity. School children learning to surf, school children walking up the jetty and down into the water and swimming to shore, an older couple chasing the grand kid's beach ball that was blowing down the beach, couples speed walking along the path and even an older guy, rigged up with pads and roller blading along the path. At the Jetty and marina, there is also a great looking fresh seafood co-op. Yuuum and a cafe & bar. This sort of reminded us of Mindarie Marina on a smaller scale. We sat and had a coldie and people watched.
We also drove past the Big Banana a few times which is not far out of the city and on the way to Woolgoolga.
Here, we had a change of plans due to Cyclone Alfred. We had to go inland to avoid winds and flooding. So my next page, instead of being around the Ballina and Alstoneville area, will now be Glen Innes. Now I know there's not much to do in Glen Innes because I have already checked it out in my travel plans for when we come back from the inland way to Coffs Harbour.

DORRIGO
~~oOo~~
We did a day trip to Bellingen and Dorrigo. I have heard good stories about how quaint and chic Bellingen is. I didn't get that impression. Maybe next time I can figure out why people rave about Bellingen. Yes, it does have old heritage buildings, but to be honest, Gulgong was way better.
We move on to Dorrigo on what's called the waterfall way. Hubby didn't have his hiking shoes on so decided not to do any bush walks to waterfalls. We did however see a waterfall on the narrow windy road up the mountain. Believe me, I am glad that we had decided not to take the van inland via Dorrigo.
The Dorrigo rainforest and National Parks Info Centre is huge with nice decor. They had a lot of the glass jewelry that I love. Pitty I still owe pocket money and didn't have any, otherwise I would have bought the shop out.
