BURRUM RIVER
~~oOo~~
We chose to stay at Burrum River Caravan Park as it is cheaper than staying at the Caravan Parks on the coast. Having said that, I am not happy with them charging $48. $45 would be sufficient for what it is. Therefore, a 4 star review rather than 5 stars.
It was still raining when we arrived. Poor hubby had an horrendous drive in heavy rain that we could barely see 3 metres ahead. He did a good job under stress, but we vowed to never drive in those conditions again, even if we have to extend our stay.
The river was blocked off but as the friendly caretaker advised us, it goes down just as quickly and sure enough, the next day we could drive through to the town of Howard. More about that later.
Here, we felt the first taste of the tropics. Lovely surrounding trees and flowers. A thunderstorm came over and the smell before it hit reminded me of my childhood when afternoon thunderstorms came in a cooled everything down. See video below.
The caravan park backed onto the river. There is a very steep pathway down, with the pool half way. We had to be careful walking down after rain as it was a bit slippery. You can see there river pontoon in the last photo here, taken from the bridge across the river.
BURRUM HEADS
~~oOo~~
We both really liked Burrum Heads beach. Lucky for us Sunday after the thunderstorm was a fine day. We took the opportunity to check out the beaches surrounding Hervey Bay.
There was quite a bit of storm debris, but this beach still afforded some nice photos with it's powdery blue water.
DUNDOWRAN BEACH
~~oOo~~
Not as nice as Burrum Heads. This beach is closer to Hervey Bay. The water was lovely and warm. I was a bit sad that I forgot my togs.
HERVEY BAY
~~oOo~~
Next day we were greeted with rain again. Our visit to Hervey Bay wasn't pleasant. Still, we both liked what we saw, along with a couple of Big Whales to add to my Australian Big Things.
HOWARD
~~oOo~~
Hubby was tickled pink that we stayed near his town.
😁
He bought himself a fishing long sleever and TShirt and took a ton of photos of the services in his town.
